Dr. Sid Mittra, Author of ‘To Bee or Not To Bee’

Dr. Sid Mittra, the author of To Bee or Not To Bee is Emeritus Professor of Finance at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. His first book was published in the year 1967 when he was 37 years old. He has published 16 books with famous publishing houses like SAGE, Harcourt Brace, Harper & Row, Dow Jones-Irwin, Prentice Hall, Asia Publishing House and Random House.

It was in 1966 when being appointed Associate Professor at Oakland University, Rochester that Sid Mittra first realized he wanted to be a writer. He likes to write on various topics that haven’t been explored before. He said that ‘Publishing is the most potent and creative way of connecting with people and making a positive difference in their thinking’ when asked about what is the most surprising thing he learned in creating his books?

Most of Sid’s books are from the technical fields of finance and economics. He used original research for ideas and information for his books that usually take 2-3 years to complete. He also established and operated the Financial Consulting firm, Mittra and Associates, for over three decades. His family is supportive of his writing and all his readers express positive feelings about his writing.

In a conversation with Startup Idols, Sid Mittra had the following advice for upcoming writers: “Writing is a lonely and challenging business. So, if you wish to be a writer, when you are at the end of the rope, tie a knot and hang in there. If you don’t do that, you will never make it.” He claims it is the real-life experience readers can relate to that makes a good story. He also said that he truly believed he always wanted to help people when he grew up and he is engaged in various social works where he can ‘make a difference.’ He is currently financing a Cancer Center through R. K. Mission in India.
