e Info Solutions was founded by Skannd Tyagi in 2014. It is a ‘full stack’ technology company & advertising agency. A national team size of 70+ people service the technology and creative stacks of the company. The technology team builds software, smartphone apps, portals and digital marketing strategies. The creative team design for advertising campaigns, print collaterals and digital marketing. The marketing team executes some of the biggest digital campaigns in the country. Operating in this unique space has given the company a client base spanning 4 continents.
Tyagi read The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand in 9th grade and got inspired to become an entrepreneur. It has been four years since he started this business and aims to make it the biggest company of its kind in the world. He comes from a family of professionals who’ve always supported his vision.
His journey began when Skannd returned to India and found a business opportunity. There was no company at the intersection of Technology, Business and Design space. There were consulting firms, creative agencies, tech companies and ad agencies. One company didn’t service all these verticals. With degrees in Computer Science, Graphic Design and Robotics; Skannd decided to build a niche in this space.
He wanted the name of the company to be simple enough for any target market to remember – Tier 1, 2 or 3. It had to be humble enough for clients of all kinds of backgrounds to be comfortable with. He came up with e Info Solutions – Electronic Information Solutions. The mission statement of the company is: ‘Empowering Progress.
Tyagi has devised a system of “deep-dive research” into clients’ business challenges. Then using “First Principle” thinking to solve them. His team then injects technology, strategy and intelligent design to help them grow. Clients get the advantage of solutions from strategy to technology, design and marketing. At competitive cost, clients get a company that is not only a vendor but also an advisor and consultant. This is the reason why customers choose this company over others.
The Startup Idols team asked Skannd about the biggest challenge in this business. “I would say the biggest challenge is to make clients understand the niche that we represent. We are often mistaken for a mere website/app development or digital marketing vendor. It takes a lot of onboarding education to explain that we bring much more to the table, at almost no extra cost.”
Tyagi believes that a founder should be on the ground for the first 5 years of founding a company. “It’s important to keep one’s ears on the ground and understand the beat of the market,” he said. This explains why e Info Solutions doesn’t have a team for sales or business development.
“The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night”, says a signboard in his cabin. My dad taught me this when I was 8 years old. Each team member of the company believes in it; the lack of fixed work hours demonstrates the same.
He signed off Startup Idols interview with some useful tips for startups. First, it is very important to create your USP. Don’t start for the sake of starting, build a USP. Second, don’t try to clone an existing idea, it is not going to end up well for you. Third, if you’re starting your business with the mindset of getting an exit as the end-goal, then don’t start it. His mantra is to fail often and fail early. “And never forget that your competition doesn’t care about your work-life balance”, he chimed.
