Prevention of Sexual Harassment with POSH at Work

At the age of 27, Shivangi Prasad founded a firm with two other partners and named it ‘POSH at Work’. She used such a unique name for her organization. POSH stands for Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace. This firm is the result of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act which came into force in 2013 and provides for several duties of an employer. She also co-authored a book on this subject titled ‘Handbook on the Law of Sexual Harassment at Workplace’ and published by Thomson Reuters in 2015.

Sometimes it becomes a little difficult for a person, who belongs to a non-Entrepreneur family to start their own business. Even in Shivangi’s case, as she belongs to a non-entrepreneur family, she faced several challenges in setting up her business and initially her family was also a little worried but eventually, they became completely supportive.

She holds a B.L.S.LL.B degree from Government Law College, Mumbai. Other two partners are Ms. Sana Hakim, who is a Criminal Lawyer and Ms. Samriti Makkar Midha, who is a psychologist (clinical).

The main idea of POSH at Work is to help women in creating enough awareness so that such acts stop occurring at the workplace. Their mission is also to help create a respectable and healthy work environment to ensure that there is no polarization. So that all genders can continue their work together.
